To all current and past members, please take some time to ready this farewell letter from Casey! If you are able to, please come on Friday to one of his classes as it will be his last day coaching! He will definitely be missed!
It seems like just yesterday I was reading JJ’s farewell. Now writing my own goodbye, I find there are not enough words to describe what this gym, I should say my home for the past 6 years, means to me.
There are so many great people, shared memories and learned experiences at the gym, I could spend forever writing. For the sake of my own sanity and hopefully writing this does not make me cry too much, I want to thank everyone that has come through the door. Whether you have coached me or been coached by me in a class, a group, or privately you all truly mean the world to me.
As some of you know when I started at the gym I was this shy, scrawny kid that thought he was “fit”. Little did I know that Chad and JJ would turn my world upside down. I can never thank them enough for the time and effort they put into making who you see today, and I can never repay them for that. Not only did I grow physically, I know hard to believe I was smaller than I am now, but with a big brother approach to teaching, leading by example, and good old tough love I found who I truly am. I got out of my shell becoming more confident dealing with others both professionally and on a personal level. I could go on and on about how important these two guys are to me but I will hold back.
After Chad and JJ, I need to thank the amazing group of coaches, trainers, but most importantly friends that I have worked with every day for the past 6 years. Kelli, Zac, Donavan, and Austin I don’t think I need to explain how important you are to me. There is not a team out there that does what we do better. I am pretty sure everyone else would agree. Putting in long hours or short days, dealing with the frigid temperature of winter or the crazy humidity of summer, I would not have wanted to do it with anyone else. Like I keep telling people I have had this job for 6 years but I haven’t worked a day, it is because I love what I do and sharing that passion with you makes it all worth it.
Then last but certainly not least I want to thank all the clients that have come in. Working with all the cross fitters has made me learn to deal and interact with such I wide variety of individuals with so many different backgrounds. This will help me in the future as I continue to help others just in a different setting. To the groups I have trained personally I love the hard work you show every day that you step into the gym and the dedication to your sport to reach your true potential. And the personal training clients I have had, I enjoyed the hour we would spend entertaining each other while getting some work done.
Ok well one more thank you needs to be said. I want to thank Robin. Not only for putting up with me for the past 2.5 years but for helping continue to grow me as a person. I understand I am not always the best but you make me want to be the best I can be. Thank you for your love and support. I am so excited to take this next step in our lives together. I love you with all my heart and cannot wait to spend forever with you.
With all that being said I want to wish you all the best in your lives. To the gym, keep taking over the world. It will be fun to watch how far you can take it both with community efforts and helping the local athletes reach their potential. To all the athletes, keep pushing the limits and don’t let anything get in your way. If an obstacle does get in front of you figure out if you need to knock it down, go over, under or around it. Don’t just look at it, act on it.
With much love Casey.
