Blanket Drive 12/17 8-Noon
It’s that time of year again…. BLANKET DRIVE!!!! As you know, last year was the second year we tried to gather blankets for Wood Hill Towers. We were notified of this event by the Myers Family who serves breakfast on Christmas morning each year to the ENTIRE TOWER COMPLEX! Here is their website, if you would like to read more on how it got started. After donating 70 blankets in year one, our goal last year was 100…. and we crushed it with over 130 blankets donated. Goal this year is 100 as well. Why would we keep the goal the same, well because we are doing more than raising blankets this year.
Buy in for the WoD will be 1 blanket or 50 burpees….. so blankets it is! There is already a sheet up in the lobby to sign up for heat times. Anyone is welcome! From another CrossFit gym? Bring them. Someone that wants to have fun for a good cause? Bring them! Someone you don’t like and want to secretly punish? Bring them!
This is one of the best events we threw last year and we are looking for more of the same this year! Even if you won’t be here you can still donate.

Business Spotlight –
This is something new we are going to do this year. We have numerous business owners within CFBN and the AF and we are going to attempt to showcase them on a monthly basis. Our first business spotlight is Feel the Knead. Some of you may or may not know, but Corey Wright is the original OG. The very FIRST CFBN member. He has been on a learning journey for the last couple of years in relation to mobility and the functioning of the body to help you feel better and perform better. You have seen him around numerous times carrying his bag of balls (pun intended), aka torture devices to help smooth out some rough spots on a lot of our members and athletes. He is going to run a special for December, $30 for 30 minutes of manipulation. He also offers classes and you can find those on the white boards at the box.
New Class –
Starting This Saturday from 8-10am, Bill we be having Krav Maga classes. Saturday’s class is an effort to gauge interest and offer high-level instruction.
Krav Maga (“contact combat”) is an eclectic hand-to-hand combat system developed in Israel and originally derived from street-fighting skills developed by Imi Lichtenfeld. The physical training is a mix of an aerobic and anaerobic workout with a strong focus on high intensity interval training. Scenarios are used to train students for various situations and training also covers situational awareness to develop an understanding of one’s surroundings and potentially threatening circumstances before an attack occurs. Its also covers ways to deal with potentially violent situations, and physical and verbal methods to avoid violence whenever possible.
Bill holds a second degree black belt in Krav Maga under Ernie Kirk and is instructor certified both through Krav Maga Universal and The Wingate Institute in Israel. He is also a veteran and has served in the U.S. Army/Army Reserve. He attained the rank of Major. Since relocating to the Midwest over three years ago he and his wife Kristin have conducted over 40 free women’s self defense seminars locally and taught numerous seminars/instructional courses for the Guns Saves Life and Pistol Prep Academy organizations. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a B.A. in International Studies and an MBA from Columbia University in New York. Bill and Kristin are avid Crossfitters and love the CFBN community.
